Congratulations America!

(you got what you deserve)

The next time I hear someone complain about our govenment, our President or our country I think I'm gonna puke.

You may think that sounds hypocritical coming from someone who authors a site like this, and you're probably right. Let me explain. As I write this, the news predicts that millions of people are going to take to the streets tomorrow to protest the government's pending immigration legislation. Maybe envy is a more accurate term for the way I feel. If you read the last article from this page, you know how I feel about the immigration issue. Regardless of how you feel, you have to admit that those who have strong feelings about it are getting off their asses and taking to the streets to let everyone, especially the politicians that are making decisions that will affect them, know where they stand. They are showing unity. They are showing resolve. They are making themselves heard. And they are being taken seriously. The politicians are carefully considering their concerns with mid-term elections coming up.

Meanwhile, there's no shortage of people voicing their displeasure with Bush, US foreign policy, the war, etc. But that's all they do is talk. Every once in a while a few thousand worldwide will stage a march or protest. But the numbers don't amount to enough to be taken seriously. Apparently there's enough illegal aliens who want to live here to make a meaningful statement. At the same time, evidently the rest of us are willing to accept a lying, corrupt, inept President that stole two elections then lied us into a war. We accept that a couple thousand Americans have died in this war so far and that likely thousand more will die. We accept a system that has stolen trillions of tax payer dollars to line the pockets of politicians and their business partners. We accept being raped with a gas nozzle as oil companies make record profits with the help of an oil friendly President. We look the other way while thousands live in the streets homeless in a country where basic health care is a luxury. We don't seem to have a problem with an administration that probably staged the 9-11 terror attack, killing a few thousand more Americans. We have no problem with a Big Brother that intercepts our phone calls and takes away other liberties a little bit at a time. Evidently it's OK to hold hundreds of prisoners without charges or recourse to counsel for an indefinite period of time.

We ignore the current beating of war drums for the impending attack on Iran, while the MSM softens our abhorrence to the possibility of nuclear weapons being used in that attack. It's not enough that tens of thousands of children and innocents have died already- we're ready to kill thousands more.So where are the people that say they are against this? Sitting on their collective butts, having a beer or whatever. Worried about what will happen tomorrow, rather than what kind of world their inaction will result in. Not caring what they'll leave for their kids. If the polls are to be believed, a majority of Americans don't approve of Bush's actions, but you'd never know it. So my hat is off to the people who will hit the streets across America tomorrow. I don't agree with what they want, but I sure do admire their resolve and their willingness to be heard.

If an equal number of people could get organized and show the government how they feel about the direction this country is heading maybe something would change. But it ain't happening.

Congratulations America- you got what you deserve. Don't agree? Prove me wrong.
